Garda Road Safety and Mounted Unit

We were delighted to welcome members of An Garda Síochana to St. Columba’s N.S. today. Garda Neill spoke to our children about safety on the road and the importance of booster seats, hi vis vests and bicycle helmets. They showed us how their handcuffs work too! Then we went outside to see the Mounted Unit. Every child had a chance to pet the horse and we had our photo taken with them.

Thank you to Sgt. Joe Hanley from Tullow Garda Station who organised the visit. We all thoroughly enjoyed our day.

Christmas Party

Our annual Christmas party was held on Tuesday 15th December for Infants, First and Second classes. We had lots of fun playing party games. We even had a visit from Santa Claus!

Thank you to Papa John’s Pizza who sponsored our delicious party food, Tullow Group of Parishes for their generous contribution toward party costs and the Caldbeck family for their kind donation of a Christmas tree.

Baking Success

The pupils in 4th, 5th & 6th Classes hosted a Coffee Afternoon and Bake Sale this afternoon. We are delighted to announce that a total of €650 was raised at the event. The proceeds will be shared between two wonderful organisations. The pupils chose to raise funds for Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin and ASH Animal Rescue Shelter.

The event was a great success. The pupils did a wonderful job decorating and baking for the event. Well done to the pupils for running the event with such enthusiasm. Thank you to our parents for your continued support. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the event. Many thanks to parents and pupils for their kindness and generosity. It is really appreciated. Thank you to all who attended the event and to those who helped out on the day. It was a great success.

Assembly

We had our last Assembly of the school year on Friday, 20th of June. Well done to the pupils who received full attendance certificates. The pupils presented Ms. Carpenter with a hamper for all her hard work throughout the year. We would like to wish sixth class pupils every success in all their future endeavours. We keep them in our thoughts and prayers as they begin an exciting new chapter in their lives. We would like to wish all pupils and their families a safe and enjoyable holiday.
