Many thanks to the firefighters who visited our school today to raise awareness of fire safety. The pupils from first to sixth classes enjoyed a workshop which highlighted the importance of having fire safety plans at home and in school. It raised our awareness of the importance of fire safety. The pupils thoroughly enjoyed the workshop.

Green Flag Celebrations
Today was a very special day for the Green Schools Committee. Representatives of the Committee attended a ceremony in Kilkenny to collect our fifth Green Flag under the theme of Biodiversity. It was a very proud day for our school. We are looking forward to raising our flag over the coming weeks. Many thanks to all the pupils and staff on their wonderful work over the past number of years.

Book rental scheme
Our new book rental scheme will operate from September 2014 for all classes. The 2014-15 book lists are available to download here. All book rental money must be paid to the school by Friday 30th May, 2014.
I wish to thank our staff for their work on the establishment of the scheme and also the Board of Management for their support of the scheme. I am extremely grateful to all of the parents and families who have donated books back to the school. Their generosity has allowed us to widen our book rental scheme to three subject areas from Third Class up. Thank you all very much.
Participation in the book rental scheme is voluntary. Book lists will be supplied to parents in the normal way.
Annual rental: A rental charge of €3 per textbook per year will apply. A rental charge of €3 per year (not per book) also applies to readers for children in Junior and Senior Infants. The payment of these charges will secure the rental of all relevant text books listed in the book list as and when required throughout the school year.
Further information on our book rental scheme may be found here.
Picnic
The weather was so beautiful today that we finished Active School Week with a picnic at lón. We ate our lunch outside and had ice pops to finish our picnic.
